Energy Atlas FAQ

Which countries have the strongest power grids?

In the Virya Electric Grid Index 2026 the top five of 86 economies are China, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, and South Korea. The United States, France, Germany, Japan, and Finland complete the top ten. India ranks 24th, and Zimbabwe, Nigeria, and Argentina rank last.

How is the Grid Index calculated?

Each economy is graded Good, Fair, or Risky on eight pillars: network losses and reliability, supply flexibility, component supply chains, cost of capital, regulatory resilience, equipment capability, economic growth, and manufacturing momentum. Its rank comes from the underlying pillar scores.
